Presented By: Sam Gentile
The Microsoft Connected Systems Division (CSD) has been very busy in the VS2010/.NET Framework 4 timeframe. In addition to the several other efforts, CSD has built a new Middle Tier and much needed tools specifically for managing WCF and WF Services. Speaking of that, WF 4.0 introduces a significant amount of change from the previous versions of the technology that shipped as part of .NET 3.0 and 3.5. In fact, the team revisited the core of the programming model, runtime and tooling and has re-architected each one to increase performance and productivity as well as to address the important feedback garnered from customer engagements using the previous versions. Although WF 4 is brand-new release, it was built with backwards compatibility as a key goal. In addition, WCF 4 has continued to evolve. Dublin brings a true Application Server to the Microsoft platform, with Easier deployment and Centralized configuration among many other features. In this session, Sam Gentile, a CSD-insider will present WF 4.0 and WCF 4.0’s main features with demos in Beta 2 of Visual Studio 2010. He will also give a public view of the Dublin server and sketch together the vision for the “New Middle Tier.”
